When I think of Mom, I think of her sunny smile greeting me, when I would
wake up in the morning, as a little girl. Everyday there were fun things to
do. We'd play games, bake cookies, make cards and crafts. We'd have a story
time followed by a cozy nap. There was enthusiasm for life which Mom
continues to have today.

Mom is one talented lady. Growing up I always knew she could do anything
artistic, from painting to drawing to decorating to crafts. She still
continues these talents today, expanding on them and trying new things. I
was especially fascinated with her singing.

One of my fondest and earliest memories of Mom is her singing in the
kitchen while doing dishes. I'd stand there with her, one of us would wash
while the other dried, and she would belt out these wonderful torch songs, or
show tunes, or jazz. Her voice was high and clear and strong with a
beautiful tone. I got my inspiration for singing from Mom. I learned so
many songs, that my friends can't believe I know all these old tunes.
Sometimes we'd listen to the radio and sing along. Or we'd put on a
favorite record: Polly Bergen, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney.
I remember Bobby Darrin's "Mack the Knife". We'd sing along with the artist
and Mom would add her own flair to the song. She poured her soul into it.
Our days were filled with music. I owe my love of music to Mom.

Thanks, Mom, for being the wonderful person you are.
